Missionaries in Guatemala

Testimony

I attended a small Christian school in San Luis Obispo, CA from kindergarten through third grade, where, as a child, I came to a knowledge of Jesus. As a child and youth I lived in Seattle, WA, Hanford, CA , Ukiah, CA, Burien, WA and during High School in Richland, WA, I grew up in the religious environment of Baptist churches, giving my life to becoming a missionary, attending Bible College in Salem, OR and Ankent, IA, then seminary in Lynchburg, VA. Married Cheryl, began to have children and went to El Salvador for 32 years serving as professor and pastor, starting churches, Bible Institutes, and a Christian School, in the midst of civil war and later gang violence. Returning to Eastern WA for 12 years, I started four ESL centers to minister to the Hispanic communities with volunteers from local churches, then taught 6th grade for 8 years in a Dual Language program in a public school in Kennewick, WA, sharing the gospel of Christ daily. I retired at 70 years old and after two years, we returned to Latin America, moving to Chimaltenango, Guatemala five months ago, to continue worshipping Jesus and ministering His Word, making disciples of Christ and preaching the Gospel.

Ministry

As we have moved to a country and a city totally new to us, we are currently passing through the process of make a home here (we’re still in culture shock), getting residency,, setting up banking, utilities, licenses, making friends, getting to know churches, choosing a church to be part of, connecting with pastors and leaders, encouraging and praying with those growing in Christ and developing ministries etc. We are walking with Christ, being transformed into His image by hearing, reading and meditating in His Word, repenting, believing and learning. We are forming close relationships with our pastor, a man my age, with his wife and family, listening to the Spirit’s voice, inviting them to our home and spending time with them. We are doing the same with the man we contracted to do projects on our property. Two years ago he came back to Jesus and is following Him with his whole heart, evangelizing, serving, growing , repenting, restoring and walking in the Spirit of God. They come to our home and we go to theirs and we are learning and listening. We are doing the same with our neighbors, visiting with them and praying with them, giving encouragement and instruction. Our daily prayer is to walk in the Spirit of God as His servants.

About Us

What are some of your Hobbies?

Cheryl and I enjoy reading and learning by being exposed to the life, thoughts and experiences of others

What is an adventure you would like to go on?

We truly have had enough “adventures” and visited many “exotic” places to realize what we were looking for is found as close as a quiet moment sitting outside in communion with the magnificent, majestic and magical person who is our Heavenly Father.

Who from the Bible would you like to meet in Heaven?

I would really like to sit down with Enoch and Noah to learn about what life was like before the flood. Melquisedec would be another very interesting person with whom to talk for all the mystery surrounding his life and times.
