Missionaries in Honduras
Testimony
Hector: When I was 17, my Biology teacher, Marco Cruz, spoke about Jesus’ crucifixion in a class, sharing historical and scientific facts about the events leading up to and during the crucifixion itself. Two questions arose in my mind that day: How could someone innocent, like Jesus, be punished for my sins? And if he did that for me, what is my response going to be? Two days later, having thought about these questions constantly, I went to my school library and asked Sandro Rosero, the librarian and a faithful believer, “What do I have to do to receive Jesus as my Savior?” He showed me several verses in the Bible about sin, God’s love, Christ’s sacrifice, and the need to make a choice. That day I gave my life and heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and asked Him to be my Savior and Lord.
Angelina: I come from a family with strong roots in Catholicism. My mother is Mexican, and my father is Honduran. I am the oldest of three sisters. My sister Karla was the middle one; we were born two years and eight months apart. She met Christ at the age of 15 and attended a church and a growth group near home. On one occasion she invited me to the growth group, and I remember accepting Christ with the guidance of people in the group. However, I think it was something emotional and that I was not really aware of what I was really doing. After a year my sister died, she tripped, and her injuries led to her death. In His special and loving plan, God had a purpose for the whole family – even in the midst of the pain and suffering of grief for my sister’s death. After that very painful event, my family and I really accepted Christ, and that marked my life. I really understood the love of God and His forgiveness.
Ministry
Hector: God has placed in my heart a passion to teach His Word, and He has called me to love Him, know Him, and walk with Him, and in that way help other Christians to love God, know Him, and walk with Him as well.
Angelina: God has placed in me a great passion for teaching Christian education to leaders, pastors, and Sunday school teachers. Currently, by God’s mercy, He allows me to serve Him in the training of church leadership in rural and urban areas, as well as online. The main focus is to show them that the teaching of the Word of God begins with oneself, that God is first interested in my heart, and that to be useful servants we begin by understanding the need we have for God every day. In addition, I equip them with tools that will help them share the Word of God more effectively. In addition to managing the World Reach virtual classroom online, I write course materials for the Mobile Bible Institute and I other materials for women. We share these materials in many places where they do not have the resources to purchase them themselves. In addition, we support the education ministry of the local church where we are members. God has allowed us, with a group of friends, to have an international discipleship group via Zoom for 4 years.
Favorite Scripture
Hector:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life..” ~ John 5:24
Angelina:
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.” ~ 1 Chronicles 29:11

About Us
What are some of your Hobbies?
Hector: I love reading. With my daughters, before watching movies based on books, we first read the book and then watch the movie. Then we compare them and decide if the book or the movie was better. I also like to watch movies in my free time (no romance please!), play the guitar, or cook. And of course, I love coffee, especially if it’s from Honduras.
Angelina: In my spare time I love watching TV shows, I’m learning English and it’s an opportunity to learn the language. I also enjoy spending time with my family including my parents and sister.
What is an adventure you would like to go on?
Hector: One day I would like to visit New Zealand. I think it is an amazing place to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation (and it would be great to meet a hobbit).
Angelina: One experience I would like to have is to go to Turkey and explore the ancient Christian world of that country. But I would also love to go to a place where people want with all their heart to be trained but currently don’t have nearby options.
Who from the Bible would you like to meet in Heaven?
Hector: I would like to talk to John the Baptist. I think he was a person who understood who he was, because he knew who his God was, and what he had called him to do. When he had fulfilled his ministry, he joyfully stepped aside. He knew that it was God, and not he, who should shine.
Angelina: I would love to be able to talk to Jesus without a doubt, because I have so many questions to ask Him, especially I would love to talk about the immense love He has for us. I think my human mind cannot fully grasp the magnitude of His love for His children.
